“The reason for that is human error from my part.”. I was having a somewhat crappy day. Hump day at work, I have too many emails that I need to go thru and I have to deal with a couple of issues that I am not really sure how to deal with. Then I received this email that says “I’m sorry, the reason for that is human error from my part.”. I had to stop for a few seconds right there and then and just look at that sentence. I was having a really busy day but that got me to stop and think.
We’ve been living in a world where everything is supposed to look perfect and shiny. We’re putting filters on everything – on our faces, on our background, heck sometimes even on our foods – then we’re sharing the best and perfect parts of our selves and our lives for everyone to nitpick and like, and yes, whether we like it or not, to judge.
We end up comparing our ugly transitions and hard seasons to the highlights of someone else’s lives that we forget that we are humans, and humans are not supposed to be perfect. We are supposed to make mistakes, to make dumb decisions, to try things and fail, to look a lot less perfect. Because that’s the beauty of being human, that’s how we grow, that’s how we are being molded into something we’re supposed to be. And honestly, I think we humans look perfect in our own imperfections.
So you make a mistake. Big deal. You’re not supposed to live in that mistake. Deal with it, learn from it, then move on. You make a dumb decision? Just enjoy the season and move forward. You took a picture and you think you look less than perfect? So what? Flaunt it dear! You’re beautiful the way you are – filter or no filter!
Living on our world today makes most of us think that we’re supposed to be perfect. That we’re supposed to hassle and do everything the way others do it. That our lives are supposed to be perfect and shared with everyone. But you see, we’re humans. We commit human errors from time to time and no one is supposed to be ashamed because of that. We are not supposed to be ashamed of being the less than perfect being – being less than perfect you – because you are beautiful the way you are.
Oh, and yes, that’s a picture of myself in the featured pic for human error, with my rounded chin and everything. It’s not there by mistake. I initially put it in there because I have no idea what picture to put in and it’s one of the first pics that I saw, but I don’t really want to take it down. I’m one of the least perfect person that I know that makes a lot of human error and I’m embracing them and learning a lot from them!
